A Morgan County Adult Detention Center booking can end in several ways. The person may leave for the community after bond or completion of a local commitment. The Sheriff may deliver a sentenced person to the Missouri Department of Corrections. Another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, ICE, a hospital, or another authority may receive the person instead. Each event ends the Morgan County custody entry, yet only the first describes an uncomplicated return to the community.
The official released card proves that the Sheriff’s database recorded an exit at a stated date and time. It does not include a “released to” or “release reason” field. If staff confirms transfer to MODOC, search the state system after intake. For suspected federal custody use BOP or the federal docket; for immigration custody use the ICE locator. Intake delays and spelling differences can make the next system temporarily blank.

Identify the exact items sought: booking sheet, admission and release date and time, release type or disposition code, releasing authority or destination if releasable, bond-release documentation, transfer record, and booking photograph. Request an electronic copy and a cost estimate before chargeable work. The Sheriff publishes no dedicated form, fee chart, photo procedure, or guaranteed turnaround, so do not assume one.

The Sheriff’s facility page uses “Morgan County Adult Detention Center,” while the roster uses “Morgan County Detention Center.” Both names refer to the county-owned jail in Versailles. It handles local adult detention rather than serving as a Missouri state prison. People can be held before trial, on local commitments, pending movement to another authority, or under an agency relationship documented in the facility’s ICE materials.
The official facility page also addresses property, telephone services, medical care, board-bill payments, PREA, and immigration-detention procedures. Those operational subjects do not change the proof needed for release. A public card supplies a timestamp; the internal or requested record is needed for a reason and destination. A court docket can explain bond, sentence, dismissal, or another judicial action but may not contain the physical jail-door time.
What an MCADC Release Card Shows
The 48-hour view is a compact operational record. It was observed displaying a photograph, name, booking number, exact release date and time, booking date and time, charges, bond, and a profile link. The profile may add age, gender, race, and arresting agency. Matching several fields is important because a name alone may point to the wrong person.

The public 48-hour window is not a records-retention rule. After a card rolls off, the underlying booking or detention record may still exist under a different retention schedule and with legal limits on disclosure.
Can an MCADC Release Mean an ICE Transfer?
Yes, and Morgan County has specific history behind that caution. A 2014 ICE inspection reported that Enforcement and Removal Operations began holding detainees at the county facility in July 2003 under an intergovernmental service agreement for stays over 72 hours. The Sheriff’s facility materials also describe notices to ICE or ERO, a Contracting Officer’s Representative, and reporting in specified detainee matters. Those sources support an operational relationship, not a claim that every missing roster entry involves ICE.
When immigration transfer is plausible, check the ICE Online Detainee Locator separately and allow time for intake. Search with the A-number and country of birth when available, or use exact biographical information. A missing ICE result can reflect lag, spelling, transfer, or limits in locator coverage. Contact ERO when the locator does not resolve the status. The county timestamp should still be preserved because it identifies when Morgan County recorded its own custody as ended.
MCADC Capacity and Release History
Historical inspection figures give context but must stay attached to their years. The 2014 ICE inspection said the Morgan County Adult Detention Center opened in 2003, was county owned and operated, and then had a capacity of 139. It reported an average population of 110 and an average stay of 22 days. A separate 2019 audit described a designed capacity of 154.
None of those figures is presented as current capacity. Their value is historical: they show how the facility and its detention role were described at two points in time. Current population, contract status, and capacity require a current statement from the Sheriff or the responsible contracting authority.
